Value Stream Mapping Course & Examination
The two-day Value Stream Mapping certification course is a practical and applied program that covers process design, assessment, and improvement using Lean principles. It provides individuals with the necessary knowledge to identify and eliminate waste, shorten lead and cycle times, and improve flow across the IT value chain. Candidates will learn value stream mapping techniques, including current state mapping, future state mapping, and value stream design. Upon completion, individuals will be equipped to drive continuous improvement within their organisations by optimising processes, reducing waste, and improving flow.
Course inclusions:
Value Stream Mapping is a Lean tool that provides organisations with a holistic view of their processes, helping to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. It is a powerful tool for breaking down silos within an organisation, as it encourages collaboration and communication across different departments and functions.
This course provides candidates with the tools and techniques they need to drive continuous improvement within their organisations and covers the following areas:
1) Process design: This section focuses on the principles of Lean thinking and process design. Participants will learn how to create value for customers while eliminating waste and reducing cycle times. They will also learn about the different types of waste that can occur in processes and how to identify them.
2) Assessment and improvement: In this section, participants will learn how to assess current processes and identify areas for improvement. They will learn how to use tools such as value stream mapping, process flow analysis, and root cause analysis to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
3) Value stream mapping techniques: This section covers the different types of value stream mapping techniques, including current state mapping, future state mapping, and value stream design. Participants will learn how to use these techniques to identify waste, optimise processes, and improve flow across the IT value chain.
By the end of this certification course, you will be able to articulate:

An amazing instructor who explained the content very clearly and at a very good pace. This was a good balance and approach to learning in a three day intensive period. I found the worked examples very practical and very relatable to the Defence industry sector I work in.
